Kids Sewing Fun Summer Camp starts Monday, June 17th and runs through Friday, June 21st from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Participants must be able to attend each day for the entire session in order to benefit from the learning experience and in order to have the opportunity to complete the projects. Participants are welcome to bring their own sewing machine (remember your power cord and foot control pedal). If the child does not have one to bring, no problem! One will be provided by Bee’s. All other supplies – sewing notions, threads, fabrics, etc. will be provided by Bee’s. Please bring a non-perishable snack and a bottle of water for your child each day. (The drink must be in a non-spill container with a lid.)
HoneyBees Quilt Guild has generously committed to sponsoring a student who may not otherwise have a chance to attend Kids Sewing Fun Summer Camp at Bee’s. To apply for an opportunity to receive the sponsorship, the child must be able to commit to attending the entire camp (Monday, June 17 through Thursday, June 20), have his/her own transportation to and from Camp, and submit an essay on what sewing means to him/her. The Guild will select the sponsorship recipient. HoneyBees Quilt Guild will pay for all camp fees and provide a sewing machine for the sponsorship recipient. Please contact the shop for details regarding the sponsorship and please spread the word about this incredible opportunity!
Parents are welcome to stay in the shop during the camp session and explore all the beautiful fabrics and machines at Bee's! We just have one favor to ask – we respectfully request that you try not to “peek” at your child’s projects while s/he is working on them, as our aspiring sewists may be creating one of their beautiful projects as a surprise for you! (While we ask that you remain “outside” of the classroom during our camp sessions, the classroom actually has an open format – i.e., no full walls – so you are able to see your child at all times as you walk around the shop near the classroom area; and, for added safety, we have security cameras at each end of our classroom.) We welcome you to wander about and check out the beautiful fabrics in the shop and our gorgeous machine gallery - and we're always happy to provide a demonstration for you on any of our beautiful Bernina machines. You can also grab a cup of coffee from our coffee bar and relax in our beautiful lounge area in the front of the shop, or grab a bite to eat in one of the neighborhood restaurants, while your child enjoys sewing time!
